The 16X9 EyeDirect has a second mirror that pivots vertically which allows for different heights of the camera and interviewer. It also has a new feature that lets "one man band" directors shoot video as well as interview. Very cool!

The original EyeLiner MP1 has a larger lens opening and is oriented for the 4:3 format. Most cameras work great in it, regardless their format.
